The FIDI 39 Club Scholarship Programme is open to young professionals below the age of 39. Isabelle Harsch interviewed this year’s inspiring winner, Gabriela Humeniuk, about her project, Giving is your Best Move
Giving is your Best Move

IH: You are our winner! Congratulations. Before you explain your project, can you tell us a little about yourself and your career in the moving industry?
GH: My name is Gabriela Humeniuk, I’m 29 years old and I’m the import manager at Lift-Van International Co. S.A.C. I’m currently studying social psychology. I love reading, cooking, singing, listening to music and playing video games. I started working at Lift-Van in 2011 to cover a temporary job, but I fell in love with the firm as soon as I arrived, so I couldn’t say no when they asked me if I wanted to stay in a permanent position. I began working in the rates department and, after some time, moved to the imports department, where I work now. I also manage the ‘Giving is your Best Move’ programme.
IH: Can you explain what your winning project – Giving is your Best Move – is about?
GH: ‘Giving is your Best Move’ is a project that consists of gathering items of clothing donated by our clients and sending them to different cities around Argentina.
During the packing/unpacking of a shipment, we deliver a brochure with an explanation of the programme, and some boxes printed with the logo, so that our clients can donate any items of clothing they don’t use or they don’t want any more.
Once we receive the boxes, we classify the items and we deliver them to various charities.
IH: Where did this idea come from?
GH: I’ve always liked helping people, so I’m always looking for new ideas to do that. Wherever I am and whatever I do, I try to make people feel better and do something nice for them. I’ve always had this desire, this constant need to make the world a better place for everyone. I believe that we are all here for a reason and I want mine to be to make others be better and feel better.
To satisfy this desire, I started this project a few years ago and people really liked it. We’ve had amazing results over the years.
My bosses, Santiago and Malena, have always been a great example to me. They are very supportive and inspiring. They’ve given me the opportunity to run this project and use Lift-Van’s resources to make it happen. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without them.
IH: What plans do you have for the project in the future?
GH: Being able to explain my project to FIDI 39 Club members in Amsterdam is definitely the beginning of something extraordinary. This is already so much more than I could have ever imagined or dreamed of. I believe that the greatness of ‘Giving is your Best Move’ lies in the fact that it’s extremely simple, so I would love to see other companies embracing this project as their own and helping people in need all around the world.

The FIDI 39 Club Scholarship Programme exists to support young professionals below the age of 40 with special projects that are inspiring, benefit communities and showcase leadership. This year, the 39 Club Board decided unanimously to support Gabriela Humeniuk’s ‘Giving is your Best Move’ project.
Affiliates attending the 2019 FIDI Conference in Amsterdam will have the opportunity to meet her and hear about the scheme during the FIDI 39 Club Conference on Sunday 31 March.
